Duration: 2 days and 2 nights
Availability: Closed from January
to March
Day
1 Our adventure
begins with an early morning flight to Pedasí, where we will
overnight in ecological villas. After a short boat trip to Isla
Iguana, we will enjoy a boat dive in the Basalt South Wall of
Iguana, where big schools of jacks, tunas, amberjacks and other
fishes concentrate to eat. After a light lunch we will enjoy a
second dive in the biggest (37 acres), oldest (500 year), best
studied, and uniquely protected coral reef in the Gulf of Panama (GoP).
It houses the biggest and oldest coral colonies of the GoP, and is
blessed with more than 200 fish species and 16 of the 20 coral
species that inhabit the Eastern Pacific. Everybody is invited for
free snorkeling in the reef the rest of the afternoon. Return to the
hotel is estimated at 6:30 p.m.
Day
2 The second
day we will travel to Frailes Islands, two peaces of rocks that come
out of the ocean right outside of the Gulf of Panama. Here, in the open Pacific Ocean, tuna concentrates to reproduce,
followed by big predators, including Wahoo, hammerheads, bull
sharks, dolphins, and billfish. Big Groupers and Morays also inhabit
Frailes’ rocky reefs. After two (2) boat dives, we will return to
the hotel.
